Anna Modak*

Modak, Anna Louise (Blaenkle), 88, died peacefully at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay on June 7, 2011. The oldest of four children, she was born in Frankfurt, Germany on August 25, 1922 to Wilhelm and Elizabeth (Paul) Blaenkle., Enduring Hitler's Nazi regime despite constant scrutiny due to a Jewish grandfather, she survived the terrors of World War II being bombed out of her family homes nine times. When famine ensued, she and her sister gleaned potato fields to feed the family, sometimes crawling among corpses as they were strafed by aircraft. Throughout her life, she cowered when a plane flew low overhead., After the war, she was employed as a bookkeeper by the American Foreign Exchange system. Her boss was a handsome ex-GI from Michigan, Andy Modak, who ran PXs throughout Frankfurt and one thing led to another. They were married on August 29, 1953., Transferred to France, their first child, Denise, was born there in 1954. France was not a good place for Germans in the '50's, so the family immigrated to Ann Arbor, Michigan where Anna became a citizen in 1958, the same year their second child, Mark, was born. To help support her family when necessary, she worked as a waitress, a bookkeeper, and a grocery cashier at A&P, while always maintaining her household in pristine fashion. After her children were grown, she was a successful real estate agent for nearly a decade. Anna and Andy became Jehovah's Witnesses in 1960 and continued faithful throughout their lives in congregations in Michigan and Florida., Upon Andy's death in '02, she made her home in Florida across the street from her son, Mark, who remained a stalwart support. A breast cancer survivor, she met that foe with her usual, "ach, ja, vhatever!" spirit and won., An inventive cook, a competent seamstress, a resourceful homemaker, Anna could have instructed Martha Stewart. In true German fashion, the laundry on her clothesline was always the whitest, her windows sparkled, and one could eat from her floors. The original party girl, Anna loved a good time and she regularly made a silk purse from a sow's ear with her creative flair - nobody ever left her table hungry. Anna truly adored those she kept close to her and they basked in her affection., She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and beloved husband of 49 years, Andrew J. Modak. She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Perry) Kantner of Saline, MI; her son, Mark (Kimberly) Modak of Palm Bay, FL; her granddaughters, Marikka (Price) Feimster of Rock Hill, SC, Tara (Daniel) Mahoney of Ypsilanti, MI, Shannon Kantner of Chicago, IL, Veranne Modak of Melbourne, FL; and her great-grandchildren, Kingston Feimster and Ryen Elizabeth Mahoney., A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3395 Fell Road, West Melbourne, FL, on June 18, 2011 at 4:00 pm.

Eleanor Budin (In Memoriam)

In Loving Memory Of Eleanor Budin 1/31/1929 - 6/10/2000 There isn't a moment or second of time that we don't think of you or remember all the good times we shared together. Even though you are out of sight, these memories live within us and will remain forever until, hopefully, we will be reunited. With our sincere, deepest love to you always, your husband, Bill, family and friends.

Eleanor Gene Duke*

Born Eleanor Gene Sarver on February 10, 1928 in Axtell, KS, she was raised in the rolling prairie countryside of northeastern Kansas. She moved to Wichita after high school where she worked first as a waitress, then later as a secretary for Sperry-Rand Corporation and as a ballroom dancing instructor at the Evan Charles Dance Studio in Wichita. There, she met a man named Jack who became her husband and father of her children. They left Kansas in 1963, moving first to Savannah, GA and then to Bay County, where they have lived for the last 45 years., Eleanor has been an active member of Parkway Presbyterian Church for over 35 years. She served as the church secretary for 10 years and taught the junior high Sunday school class for 14 years. Telling the stories of Jesus to those kids and sharing her witness to the grace of God was one of her proudest achievements. She continued to manage the church's e-mail prayer chain until her recent illness prevented her from continuing., From 1988-1997, she worked as a secretary for the Salvation Army Domestic Violence Program in Panama City, where her skills with people greatly assisted that ministry., Eleanor was active in Jazzercise in recent years and was known as their oldest local member. She was known to be a very good cook and was famous, at least to her family, for her extra good cole slaw and gumbo. She loved all furry and feathered creatures and welcomed and fed birds, rabbits, coons, and possums that discovered her backyard sanctuary. She loved them all, but her favorites were small dogs. She usually had from one to three of them around her and they all returned her love., A family graveside service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens and a memorial service later at 3:00 p.m. at Parkway Presbyterian Church on Saturday with Rev. Ric Connor and Rev. Reid Cameron officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 107 w. 19th Street, Panama City, FL or Parkway Presbyterian Church, 505 S. Tyndall Parkway, Panama City, FL., For all of her family and many friends, it is hard to say goodbye to Eleanor, but we know she has gone to a "home not made with hands, eternal in the heavens" and that one day, we will join her "in the great cloud of witnesses" in that better place.

Jack Newkirk (In Memoriam)

In Loving Memory Of Jack F. Newkirk Two years have passed without your smile, your laughter and of course, your phone calls to "discuss" Gator football and basketball. Two years without being able to seek your insight to solve our "life problems." Two years without our best friend, our Lunch Bunch coordinator, our Jefferson friends organizer, our decorator, landscaper, contractor, baby-sitter, coach and confidant. We know that you are continuing to share with everyone up there your greatest gift left to us- always thinking how to bring Joy to other people's lives no matter how difficult your own challenges are! Each day without you is just another day for us to practice what you have taught us so well! You have given so much happiness and have left us with a life purpose to honor. We miss you every day!

Tiho Cecic (In Memoriam)

In Loving Memory of Tiho Cecic August 18,1937 - June 16, 2010 Dad??s Poem You never said ??I??m leaving?? You never said ??goodbye?? You were gone before I knew it, and only God knew why. There are no words to tell you just what I feel inside. The Shock, the hurt, the anger might gradually subside. A million times I??ll need you A million times I??ll cry If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life I loved you dearly, In death I love you still. In my heart you hold a place that no one could ever fill. It broke my heart to loose you but you didn??t go alone. For part of me went with you the day God took you home. Things will never be the same and all though it hurts so bad. I will smile whenever I hear your name and be proud you were my dad. I love you Daddy. Mom, Cris, Meenie & Marc, Jordan & Michelle and grandkids.

WILLIAM MICHAEL ("BILL") HIGGINS

HIGGINS, WILLIAM MICHAEL ("BILL"), passed from this life on Sunday, 12 June 2011 in Houston, Texas, surrounded by loved ones, in peace, with dignity and without pain. Born on the 24th of August, 1941 in Woodside (Queens), New York, "Bill" as he was known to friends, was a larger than life figure. Having left New York 1969 for the then booming export city of Miami he was a recognized pioneer in the international shipping and transportation industry and an enthusiastic supporter of commerce on the Miami River. In 1980 Mr. Higgins moved to Texas, founding a new shipping company from the thriving U.S. Gulf and developed worldwide operations from his new home and headquarters in Houston. He was recognized locally and nationally for his contributions to international trade and development. Mr. Higgins was perhaps most proud of the fact that his professional accomplishments allowed him to share his success. From the humblest of beginnings as a part time taxi driver in New York City, Mr Higgins was well known for offering employment and training opportunities to virtually anyone willing to roll up their sleeves and work. He cared little for lengthy resumes or business experience while maintaining the greatest respect for a strong work ethic. He believed that given the opportunity anyone could succeed and took great pride in providing career opportunities, training and serving as mentor to countless young men and women throughout his career. Mr. Higgins is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Elaine. He took great pride in his three sons (William Jr., Glenn James and Michael), daughters-in-law Bethe and Peggy, who he loved like his own, and six grandchildren who were the light of his life: William III, Casey, Haley, Ryan, Darien and Hope.
