Frank Lilley

LILLEY, FRANK, Ocala - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Deacon Frank Lilley. It is with a great sense of pride that he fought a good fight and we are comforted with joy knowing that he is now with the Lord. Having moved from New York City to Ocala over nineteen (19) years ago, he entrenched himself in the church and community affairs that affected the lives of everyone he encountered. Preparing his lessons and teaching his Sunday School class gave him immeasurable joy and spiritual growth. Additionally, his participation in the Deacons' Ministry allowed him the opportunity to stand up for Christ. He served as chairperson of his church's recent Pastor's Selection Committee. That service was a spiritual challenge and an avenue for him to give leadership that enhanced his joy of serving. Chairing the Benevolent committee was a source of joy from his heart. His community involvement included serving as Treasurer of the Marion County Branch of the NAACP for over fifteen (15) years which gave him the opportunity to stand up and state with conviction that all men should be treated equally and with dignity. He was the loving pillar of his family. He was the root from which all family activity blossomed. He was always gracious and kind. His Christian beliefs and Christ-like practices endeared him to everyone he met. Frank Lilley leaves to mourn his passing a devoted and loving wife, Lois, two sons, Harold and Michael of New York; four sisters, Betty ("Doc"), Christine, Barbara and Carolyn of Jackson, Mississippi, granddaughter Kyowna of Ocala, granddaughter Raashida and grandson Mykal of Dallas, Texas, granddaughter Shay-El of New York; five great grand children, loving nieces, nephews and cousins, other family members and a host of loving friends. A celebration of his life begins with a wake on Friday, June 10, 2011 from 5 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Greater Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church 515 NW 6th Terrace, Ocala, FL; The celebration of his life continues on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Greater Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.
